Street Art Collector

Sep 27, 2022

On the podcast today, Steph sits down with Melbourne-based British urban contemporary artist Mysterious Al, who was part of London's early street art wave, tagging toilets and walls all around the city and running illegal street exhibitions with some of today's most famous street artists.

Famous since the 2000s for his street art while simultaneously successful as a professional illustrator and art director, Mysterious Al lived on the art extremes before finding the style he has today, transcending mediums to apply perfectly no matter whether his work was found on walls, in galleries or in the digital realm.

Oddly enough, Al had produced NFT-like artworks long before the blockchain existed. Some 20 years you could find his Flash animations on eBay for about £5. When NFTs came around, it wasn't so much of a stretch for Mysterious Al to flex the old skills, apply his new style and find fast success in the space.

On this episode, Al gives a great insight into his process and how that converts to NFTs. He also chats in depth about the potential of blockchain technology for the provenance of physical paintings and the generative NFT plans he's been developing for the past year.
